The 2026 Volvo EX90 still wears Thor’s Hammer

Thor’s Hammer lighting and a smooth front surface are useful EX90 design cues, but they do not establish a motor count or electrical architecture. Volvo’s manufacturer design kit describes the shared exterior form. It is a German-market launch source, so its equipment descriptions should not automatically be applied to every U.S. car.

For the U.S. 2026 EX90, Volvo Car USA’s lineup announcement identifies an 800-volt electrical architecture and an expanded powertrain range, including Single Motor alongside Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance. These are specifications that require a model-year and configuration check; they cannot be read from the shape of the daytime-running lights.

That distinction is especially useful when comparing manufacturer photographs across years. A picture of the recognizable EX90 front can illustrate the design without proving that the photographed vehicle has the later electrical system. The rear light arrangement and model badge can corroborate the body family, but they still do not establish battery or motor equipment.

Check the VIN, model-year specification and exact powertrain when comparing cars. Keep a styling identification separate from a claim about charging capability or enabled driver-assistance functions.
